About Level 2 International Award in Emergency First Aid at Work

The Highfield Level 2 International Award in Emergency First Aid at Work is typically delivered as a one-day programme and aimed at learners already working or preparing to work in industry that is identified within the Company’s risk assessment of First Aid as being lower risk.

Learners gaining this qualification will know that First Aid is the responsibility of everyone involved in the working environment. Its topics are regarded by the Health & Safety Executive as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health at the workplace.

2. Be able to assess an incident 2.1 Conduct a scene survey

2.2 Conduct a primary survey of a casualty

2.3 Give examples of when to call for help

3. Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally 3.1 Assess a casualty’s level of consciousness

3.2 Open a casualty’s airway and check breathing

3.3 Explain why is important to place an unconscious casualty into the recovery position

3.4 Place an unresponsive casualty in the recovery position

3.5 Manage a casualty who is in seizure

4. Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally 4.1 Recognize the need to commence Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

4.2 Demonstrate Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation using a manikin

Methodology

Training will be delivered by using professionally developed & approved training material that includes power point presentations, delegate manuals and video clips as well as open discussion, individual & group exercises. All topics are covered by practical exercises as more than 70% of course time is allocated to practicals.

Assessment & Certification

This qualification is assessed by open assessment through:

  1. Practical Observation

 The practical assessment of learners for the qualification is completed throughout the course delivery. This ongoing assessment will involve learners demonstrating practical first aid skills across a number of areas.

  1. Written/Oral Questioning

 Learners are required to answer a series of questions ensuring their understanding of the theory content is sufficient to meet the required standard. Oral questioning can be used to extract further information for these questions during the practical assessments, with the tutor documenting the responses, or when needing to supplement learners’ written responses, according to individual learners’ needs.

Successful candidates will get Highfields internationally recognized certificate and wallet card in about 4 weeks’ time after the training.

Trainer Profile

Our Trainer for this course is a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner (CMIOSH). He has MSc in Safety Engineering from UK followed by 8 years of HSE management and training experience in Pakistan and Middle East. He is a qualified Professional Trainer with teaching qualifications from Australia and UK. He is an approved trainer for NEBOSH, IOSH, CIEH, Highfield, PECB and IRCA qualifications and has successfully delivered hundreds of training programs; both in Pakistan and overseas. His recent assignments involved training of personnel from organizations like PPL, OMV, MOL, ENI, POL, PSO, Mobilink, Telenor, Zong, Exterran, Fatima Fertilizer, Lalpir Power, TNB, PARKO, KAPCO, General Electric, Engro, K-Electric, Reon Energy, Pak Navy etc.
