The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is the Chartered body for health and safety professionals. With more than 40,000 individual members, IOSH is the biggest professional health and safety organization in the world.
NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) was formed in 1979 as an independent examining board and awarding body with charitable status. They offer a comprehensive range of globally-recognized, vocationally related qualifications designed to meet the health, safety, environmental and risk management needs of all places of work in both the private and public sectors.
Courses leading to NEBOSH qualifications attract around 35,000 candidates annually. NEBOSH qualifications are recognized by the relevant professional membership bodies including the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
SBS does not offer NEBOSH courses with any one’s collaboration/association. SBS is a directly accredited training provider for IGC and IOG of NEBOSH, UK.

Courses & Details
Managing Safely (Version 5.0) is a course offered by IOSH. It is for managers and supervisors in any sector, and any organization. It’s designed to get managers up to speed on the practical actions they need to take to handle health and safety in their teams. Managing safely won’t turn delegates into safety experts – but it will give them the knowledge and tools to tackle the health and safety issues they’re responsible for. Importantly, it brings home just why health and safety is such an essential part of their job.
The NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is a globally recognized qualification offered by an established independent UK examination board with over 30 years’ experience in providing health and safety awards in the UK and across the world including the Middle East, the West Indies and Southeast Asia.
This qualification is for managers, supervisors and employees based outside the UK who require a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety principles and practices. The qualification focuses on international standards and management systems, enabling candidates to effectively discharge workplace health and safety responsibilities in any employment sector, in all parts of the world.
The NEBOSH International General Certificate is also suitable for those embarking on a career in health and safety, providing a sound basis for progression on to the NEBOSH International Diploma.
This new qualification is designed specifically for those with safety responsibilities in the oil and gas industry. The qualification focuses on international standards and management systems, enabling students to effectively discharge workplace safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore.The certificate also highlights the importance of process safety management in the oil and gas industry.
- NEBOSH IGC is a level 3 qualification.

SBS does not offer NEBOSH Diploma. SBS is accredited for 2 qualifications of NEBOSH i.e. International General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (IGC) & International Technical Certificate in Oil & Gas Operational Safety (IOG).

GC 3: International Health & Safety Practical Application
The NEBOSH Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety covers the principles of process safety management in the oil and gas industries. The syllabus takes a risk management approach based on best practice and international industry standards.
The course covers:

The duration for IOSH Managing Safely course is 3 days and timings are 09:00am to 06:00pm.
Course duration includes 10 days classes + 2 days for exams and class timings are 09:00am to 06:00pm.
IOG course duration is 5 days of classes + 1 day for exam and class timings are 09:00am to 06:00pm.
According to IOSH, this course can be delivered over 3, 4 or 5 days and a minimum of 24 hours of face-to-face contact is required which is completed in 3 days of 8 taught hours each.
According to NEBOSH, 80 taught hours are required for NEBOSH IGC course so this duration is completed in 10 days classes of 8 taught hours each. Moreover, 53 hours of private study and back ground reading should be included.
Currently SBS offers only NEBOSH IGC through distance learning.
Course Assessments & Certificates
NEBOSH exams are conducted by British Council. Exam of IOSH MS is conducted in house.
As SBS is an approved training provider of IOSH & NEBOSH, certificates of NEBOSH & IOSH courses are issued by these bodies. SBS provides its certificates for its own/non accredited qualifications.
This course is assessed by an exam of 1 hour on the last day of training plus a project report is to be completed as home assignment and submitted within 1 week after the exam.
For successfully completing the qualification and be able to get certificate, candidate must achieve:
At least 36 out of 60 on the multi-format assessment paper.
At least 23 out of 38 on the project.
Overall 60 marks required to get Managing Safely certificate.
For the candidates not clearing their exam or report, re sit will be arranged.
This qualification is assessed by two papers for IGC 1 & IGC 2. Each paper is of two hours and contains one long question (20 marks) and ten short questions (8 marks each). IGC 3 is a practical application report. It consists of one written safety inspection which can be done on candidate’s own workplace.
All three units, IGC 1, IGC 2 and IGC 3 need to be passed within a five year period for an award to be made. Certificate is awarded by NEBOSH itself.
IGC1 and GC2 – 45% each for a pass
GC3 – 60% for a pass
The level of award is made by adding the marks from each unit. These levels are as below:
– 150 to 179 = Pass
– 180 to 209 = Credit
– 210 or above = Distinction
If a candidate doesn’t pass a unit, he/she can take it again within 5 year of the first successful unit (conditions apply).
Candidates are assessed by a 2 hour written assessment.
Result of NEBOSH qualifications is notified after 40 working days of exam sitting. After result notification, it takes further 40 working days to receive certificates.
There are no official pre-requisites for this qualification.
There are no official prerequisites for this qualification. However, this qualification is more beneficial for delegates with prior experience in health and safety.

English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS Band 6 is desirable.

The fee covers one time registration with SBS & IOSH, tuition fee, 3 days refreshment cost, material cost, administrative cost &certification charges
Fee payment can be made through cheque, online transfer / deposit or Demand Drafting favor of ‘Sustainable Business Solutions’.
Maximum two installments are offered only for NEBOSH courses. Candidate needs to deposit 50% of total fee at the time of registration before the registration deadline and remaining 50% should be paid by committed date which must be before the last day of classes.
