DESCRIPTION:\nWHO SHOULD ATTEND\n\n\nManagers and supervisors in any sector\nTeam leaders and anyone responsible for other people’s safety at work\nStaff with no previous health and safety training who now have safety duties\n\nCOURSE CONTENT\n\nThe current course (Version 5.0) is delivered in seven modules:\nModule 1: Introducing Managing Safely\nModule 2: Assessing Risks\nModule 3: Controlling Risks\nModule 4: Understanding Responsibilities\nModule 5: Understanding Hazards\nModule 6: Investigating Incidents\nModule 7: Measuring Performance\nWHAT YOU WILL LEARN\n\n\nWhy health and safety matters, and your own role and responsibilities as a manager\nHow to identify hazards and assess risks in your area\nHow to choose and apply controls to reduce risk\nHow to recognize and deal with common workplace hazards\nHow to investigate accidents and incidents so they don’t happen again\nHow to measure and improve health and safety performance\n\nASSESSMENT PROCESS\n\nPart 1: Written assessment (taken at the end of the course)\n\nMulti-format questions (MCQs), taken closed-book\nTypical pass mark: 36 out of 60 (60%)\n\nPart 2: Workplace risk assessment project\n\nThe learner carries out a risk assessment of a real workplace using IOSH’s standard form and selects four hazards that are not adequately controlled.\nThe project should take no more than two hours.\nIt is marked out of 38, with a pass mark of 23.\nIt is usually submitted within about 5-7 days of the course.\nProjects are marked by independent examiners.\n\nCertification\n\nLearners who pass both parts receive the IOSH Managing Safely certificate.\n\n
