About Level 2 International Award in Emergency First Aid at Work

The Highfield Level 2 International Award in Emergency First Aid at Work is typically delivered as a one-day programme and aimed at learners already working or preparing to work in industry that is identified within the Company’s risk assessment of First Aid as being lower risk.

Learners gaining this qualification will know that First Aid is the responsibility of everyone involved in the working environment. Its topics are regarded by the Health & Safety Executive as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health at the workplace.

Qualification Overview

The Level 2 International Award in Emergency First Aid at Work is a qualification aimed at providing learners with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to support emergency first aid in the workplace.

The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of a first aider and how to assess and incident. It also covers first aid skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), providing first aid to a casualty who is choking and dealing with external bleeding and shock.

  1. How the Qualification is Assessed?

The qualification is assessed using the Highfield assessment pack and is split into two component parts.

  1. Practical Observation: This practical assessment is completed throughout the course delivery. This ongoing assessment requires learners to demonstrate practical first aid skills. The practical assessment will be recorded using the practical matrix within the Assessment Pack.
  2. SBS Marked Multiple Choice Theory Assessment: Learners are required to answer a series of questions, contained within the theory exam papers.

Learners must achieve a pass in each element of the theory and practical assessments in order to pass the qualification.

Methodology

Training will be delivered by using professionally developed and approved training material that includes powerpoint presentations, delegate manuals and video clips as well as open discussion, individual & group exercises. All topics are covered by practical exercises as more than 70% of course time is allocated to practicals.

Certification

Successful candidates will get Highfield’s internationally recognized certificate and wallet card in about 4-6 weeks’ time after the training.
